The Way of Wisdom

by Wolfi Eckleben

This past Sundays messages at our Every Nation London congregations were from James 1 verses 5-8: If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.
This passage reminds us that wisdom is something to be sought. We need it, and we can get it in abundance from God who is the source of all wisdom.  In the context of the message of James, this wisdom is about ACTIVATING the believer into God-glorifying works – if you are stuck or paralysed by doubt, unbelief or double-mindedness, then ask God for wisdom to lead you through trials, past temptations, and into ACTION. Whatever you get, get the “from above” variety of wisdom!
Colossians 1:9   For this reason…  we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

Wolfi Eckleben once ran a sub-four minute mile and is the author of Wolfi’s View from London and is the senior pastor of Every Nation Church London.
