The Myth of Maturity

by Steve Murrell

Ever watch those wild myth-buster dudes on Discovery Channel? Crazy stuff. Seems they never run out of myths to bust.

How about these common myths:

MYTH 1: You lose most of your body hear through your head

TRUTH 1: You lose about 10% of your body heat through your head

MYTH 2: It takes 7 years to digest chewing gum

TRUTH 2 : While not digested, chewing gum passes through your system with the rest of the junk you eat

MYTH 3: Eating turkey makes you sleepy because it contains tryptophan

TRUTH 3: Ham & cheese contain more tryptophan than turkey

Now for some common discipleship myths:

MYTH 1: My pastor’s job is to minister to me

TRUTH 1: My pastor’s job is to equip me to minister to others

MYTH 2: I’m not ready to be used by God yet

TRUTH 2: God is ready to use me now

MYTH 3: No one should minister until they are mature

TRUTH 3: No one will mature unless they minister
