Is there anyone you can count on to be there when you have a need? Are you the one someone else can count on when he/she has a need?
In 2Tim 4:16 Paul recounts his day in court. He says, “At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; may it not be counted against them.”
Paul’s loneliness and sense of abandonment had to be overwhelming. Yet, he was able to set aside his need, overlook his brethren’s offense and request absolution for their wrongdoing. He was a very big man.
If you have someone you can count on when the chips are down, prepare your heart to forgive them if they fail you. If you aren’t the person others can count on when the chips are down, prepare yourself for a spiritual heart transplant.
Whether we need to forgive the deserters or become the ones upon others can lean, may God help us to live right and live well…
