Brett & Cynthia Fullerby Brett Fuller

Among the many things that are inevitable in this world is trouble. If we are not “in it”, it’s we will be soon. I wish it weren’t true but wishn’ never changed anything. Trouble was allowed in Man’s front door by Adam and hasn’t left the house since. It is a squatter who doesn’t know he has outstayed his welcome.

Trouble is not only defined as the resultant difficulty we cause ourselves by perpetual disobedience, but also as the by-product of world condition to which we are subjected. The progression of the gospel in, and through, our lives also causes “trouble” to flex it muscles and try to impose its will. Fortunately, the Lord has made provision for His people to overcome. Nahum 1:7 says, “The LORD is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knows those who take refuge in Him.”

When trouble troubles us, God allows us to be shielded from its pestering by His presence. In addition, the acknowledgment that we are His is reconfirmed every time we take refuge in Him.

So today, don’t just run from trouble, run to God.
